Ornamental castings is owned and operated by John Dersch, in Sydney N.S.W. Australia.
Since 2004 Ornamental Castings has manufactured fine-detailed model components in several model areas such as railways, cars, trucks, boats and aeroplanes.
John started casting model items for his own use in 1990. A range of model railway accessories, UNEEK Models in HO 1:87 scale, started the same year. These items were very well received by the Australian model railway enthusiast and the range now features over 200 items. This also includes a large number of urethane resin castings. See a selection of the range of UNEEK models here.
In 2013 the lost wax brass casting work of Stephen Wright of Wentworth Falls NSW was taken over by Ornamental Castings following Stephen’s retirement. Stephen’s work was well known to model railway enthusiasts across Australia and he produced components for many well known kit manufacturers. John continues to support all of Stephen’s previous clients and endeavours to maintain the high quality of Stephen’s productions.
Ornamental Castings can assist other people wanting to have fine scale components produced. See our Home page. Ornamental Castings can assist with mould production and casting of your model parts.
John calls on his twenty-eight years in the jewellery trade and over twenty five years experience in spin casting to produce fine-detailed castings for his clients. Whether it is twenty items required or one thousand, John will be happy to discuss your requirements.
If you have already manufactured your own master patterns and require them cast, Ornamental Castings can also help you in this area. It doesn’t matter if the master pattern is not in a strong medium, if made in timber, styrene, clay, metal, glued, soldered, 3D printed or rapid prototyped, John can create moulds and cast items in either white metal, resin or brass.
